Wish I could give 6 stars! Everything about our experience here was amazing. The service was warm and wonderfully friendly. The atmosphere was intimate and romantic. It's a beautiful little place. The owner came and chatted with us throughout our meal and helped us pick a phenomenal wine for our meal. A wonderful person with a wonderful staff. And the food! Just spectacular. Very creative, flavorful, with gorgeous presentations. Don't skip dessert! It's was the perfect ending to a great experience. I hope you enjoy as much as we did.

Guiso is an amazing restaurant. I've been there four times and have not had a bad bite of food yet. It would be impossible to overrate this gem. Carlos is a very talented young chef and his food pairs perfectly with wine which may surprise people who were expecting Mexican food. You can tell that nothing but the best ingredients are used in every dish.

We had a wonderful meal at Guiso. Rather than get any entrees we sampled lots of things on the appetizer/small plates menu. Each was excellent. The pan latino (rolls with meyer lemon flavored olive oil) were warm and soooo good! The papusa (pork) were kind of like deconstructed arepas. The secret to each dish is the meticulous attention to every detail. These had a wonderful soft doughy bread with the perfect mix of fatty lardy porky goodness with a contrasting citrus/vinegar crunchy cabbage-y slaw and spicy smoked paprika / chili seasoning. I am drooling just recalling it. The Cubanitos (sliders) were similar but the seasonings were in a different direction with mustard and pickles adding the spice and salty/sour contrast and again a crunchy veg vs cloud soft bun texture contrast. The ceviche served with chili/smoked paprika tortilla chips was another symphony of contrasts with a seafood vibe instead of a meaty main element. The Elotitos (small Mexican street corn style) was addictive. It was the same elements as mexican street corn but, obviously prepared by a gifted chef who knows what he's doing. The pineapple water was delicious. For dessert we had the Quesadillita con Helado accurately described as 'semi-sweet rice & cheese bread, Organic vanilla ice cream, strawberry/lemon & zinfandel sauce, torched coconut shavings, coffee foam' Everything was excellent. It was the best dinner we had on this trip to the SF/Sonoma area including a dinner at an upscale place in downtown SF.
